OUR COMMITMENT TO SECURITY
The software used to create these games is regularly updated with the latest security patches and updates. To ensure server security and operational reliability, all program files are stored on UK servers owned and operated by a leading UK hosting company.
We have included a "Hit-Counter" routine solely to supply us with information on which games are the most popular, and a basic "Stat-Counter" so we can check technical details like the browser type and screen resolution -- this is very common practice and essential to ensure that our games remain playable/viewable on the vast majority of visitors systems.
CONTENT PROTECTION As the sole Registrant of www.polarbeargames.com and www.inelgin.com, I am responsible for the content of these websites. To ensure that the content remains of the highest standard only one access password has been enabled and it is known only by myself.
Please note that the full address of the index page for Polar Bear Games is:
http://www.inelgin.com/polarbeargames/index.html
The domain name: polarbeargames.com will always redirect visitors to the page above.
USER DATA The only real user data we receive if from visitors emailing their scores for the various high-score tables.
All hi-score data is directed to an email account which only the Registrant has access to: polarbeargames@btinternet.com. We do not attempt to do anything with email addresses after this point and do not even regularly respond to such emails unless there is some confusion over the score or code, or there has been a delay in updating the "Cave".
You will notice that this site has no ads or pop-ups. This is because we simply have no interest in making money from this site or providing information about our visitors to third parties.
Although we have included the page: "Recommended Bear Sites", we receive no payment of any kind from these sites, in fact, we have not even contacted them to check if they would like to be included on such a list. We have included them because we think these sites might be of interest to the average visitor and as we have "recycled" some of their graphics, it seams only fair that we include a link to them. We routinely check the content of all these sites to ensure they are still suitable for general viewing.
ONLINE SAFETY We would like to make the following general recommendation:-
1) Before allowing any child to visit a new website it should first be check by a responsible adult. 2) Any emails sent to such a site should be sent from an adult's account not the child's (if they have one). 3) If possible use a temporary email account, which can be easily deleted later, if needed. 4) Use an email name that does not give away personal information, "sdog123" is better than "samlondon14". 5) Sending a test email is a good way to see what response you might get. 6) If in any doubt, simply do not give your email details to a website you do not trust.
Please note that even when a visitor emails us with their full name we only included the initial letter of their surname, so "Joe Smith" would appear as "Joe S". We encourage visitors to use imaginative names like "PolarPal" or "PenguinBoy" :O)
